The most important objective of the museum is to become number one art & design museum in the world. Today, the managers of the museum are pretty close to their targets, thanks to the exhibitions and events enriched with their brand setting activities and interesting ideas, focus on importance of brand and brand setting. The most important mission of the museum is to organize successful activities by strengthening the elements such as vision and idea, which are crucial elements to make a brand successful, with a good idea and story.
The management strategies of the V&A museum is based on the terminologies of “Generous”, “Share”, “Value”, “Expertise” and “welcoming all visitors”. Managers of V&A museum defined the museum as an imaginative, original and progressive in their attitude. In addition, the managers, who call attention on cafes and shops where visitors can make shopping and socialize, state that the income provided from these places consists of pretty big portion of the total revenues of the museum. It is very important for the museum that visitors understand the brand and feel themselves as a part of the museum.
In the museum consisting of Exhibition Galleries, Porter Gallery, Gallery for Fashion and it is organized popular in addition to existing permanent exhibitions. Kylie Minogue Exhibition and Vivienne Westwood Fashions Show are some of these popular events. These popular events make contribution to the budget of the museum in order to organize less popular events and exhibitions, and other activities. Although the museum signs special sponsorship agreements for popular events such as Kylie Minogue Exhibition, it does not sign any general sponsorship agreement. So, these kinds of popular events provide the museum with good income.
V&A Museum has no plan to open up branches in other cities as some other museums do. The managers of the museum, who claim that nothing is local today, prefer making investment on web sites instead of opening up a branch at another city and to present existing and /or planned exhibitions to visitors as on-line over internet. Although it does not have any branch, the museum continues to advertise at other countries. The museum claims that curator and localization are not important any more, in other words to operate a museum necessitate teamwork.
It is clear that the museum will be an example for the similar, with bearing a huge collection and interesting events, abhorrent to the localization and such kind of positioning. At the museum not working with a sponsorship and free for the visitors, the income getting from shopping out of café is used for the future works as a source. It’s possible to indicate that is a correct decision not to open a branch of V&A museum and investing on online web for worldwide presentation of the museum and the brand and also for the interested /researches of the museum and who can not traveling to England. With this method, it’s possible to sell over the world from the catalog of museum and so it seems like right strategy to get additional source.
